Thank you for contacting us. To replace the media, begin by removing the old media—either with a shop vacuum or by turning the tank over to dump it out. Make sure to seat your riser tube so it is flush with the tank threads. Next, add your gravel, followed by the Pro-Ox media, and finally the Turbidex media. Pour a cup of bleach into the tank, then fill it with water using a hose or several 5-gallon buckets. Let the bleach and water mixture sit for 4 hours to sanitize the tank and media. Once ready, install the control valve and backwash the system several times until the drain line water turns gray rather than black.
