Chlorine granules from BWI are made in the U.S. and are National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified for use in drinking water so yes they will work well for a storage tank.
Simply dissolve the granules in purified, bottled, or softened water, and add to the tank. Use approximately 1/2 to 1 ounce per 1000 gallons of water to achieve a 2 to 5 PPM of chlorine residual.
